Thanking You!

Hello CRCS Families,

We would like to thank you for buying and ordering our cookbooks! We were really excited to see all the K- 5th grade families and teachers at the stand. We also loved how some people bought more than one cookbook and we heard friends say they were giving them as holiday presents! The cookbooks were such a hit that we sold out on Friday and had to give out order forms. Also, many people that bought cookbooks told us that they found recipes that tasted so good! We even got a little bit of a taste because a family today decided to make some muffins from our cookbook and they tasted better because they were healthy!

In total, we raised.....$670.00. If $10.00 helps to feed one child for a week, think how many children we are helping to feed. We could not have done it without you! Thank you again for buying our cookbooks and helping us to donate money to the food program at Neges Foundation’s school, Mon P’tit Village, in Léogâne, Haiti.

Love,
LSA2

Health Week Recess Games

As you know, last week we had Health Week!

During Health week we led recess games for our school. With the older friends we played Steal the Bacon and Racing and Relays and with the younger friends we played Duck Duck Goose, What Time Is It Mr. Fox?, Red Light Green Light and more. We really enjoyed helping to lead all of these games. Some kids even said recess was better because more kids played games and it was more fun!

Thank you for participating in health week and remember to stay active!

Mon P'tit Village School in Haiti

Hello Families,

All proceeds of the cookbook we will be selling next week will go to Mon P’tit Village, the same school in Haiti we walked for in the walk-a-thon when we were in 3rd grade. The price of two cookbooks will feed one child hot lunch for a week. For most of the children at this school, this is their only hot meal of the day. Last month we met with Yoleine, the co-founder of the school and she told us all about it.
The school was made to provide the community with a nest for educational growth and environmental safety. Since February 1997, NEGES has served as a vital Haitian-American led not-for profit 501(c) 3 organization. Operating in Léogâne, they work with townspeople and post-earthquake internally displaced families in Dampus (a rural area with three encampments). They work to create systemic change to impoverished communities through education, capacity building, and health initiatives.
Their 8-acre campus offers education, health and environmental safety programs. They have hosted, staffed and programmed a bilingual (Kreyol and French) elementary school, teacher trainings, and summer camp. They also have a hospitality & volunteer center, an herbal medicine shop, a food-crop nursery, and an internet cafe.
The rebuilt NEGES school reopened this fall, enrolling more than 160 children kindergarten through level 4, and they plan to add a grade each year through high school. Although most parents are unable to pay their tuition fees since the earthquake, they are making every effort to ensure that no child is denied an education.
For more information please see their organization's website at: http://www.negesfoundation.org.

We will be selling the cookbook at the Health Week Info Table outside the office during arrival and dismissal next week (December 12th-16th).  We look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks,
The LSA2 Health Team

HEALTH WEEK!!!!!! :D

Soon LSA 2 will be proud to introduce HEALTH WEEK. Health week will be a week where we strive even more than usual to promote health & fitness. It will last from December 12th - 16th. There will be many activities and games in the recess yard for all ages. Some of the games will include steal the bacon and flag football. We will also have a health promotion table before and after school at which you will be able to purchase a healthy cookbook we have been working on (all the recipes are from our community). All proceeds from the cookbooks will go to charity. See you in two weeks at Health Week. Bye !!!! : )
